Why lawnlo

Why homeowners choose lawnlo

Birmingham’s red clay soil, long growing season, and Bermuda-dominated lawns mean weekly mowing isn’t optional — it’s the difference between a clean cut and a stressed yard. lawnlo makes that as easy as ordering a ride.

Vetted local pros, not gig workers

Every lawnlo pro is screened, insured, and rated by Birmingham customers. The same pro keeps coming back — they learn your yard.

Satellite-measured pricing

We measure your lawn down to the square foot using satellite data, then quote an exact price. No vague estimates, no surprise add-ons.

No contracts

Start, pause, or cancel anytime through the app. Going out of town? Skip a week, no penalty.

Everything included in one mow

Edging, weed eating around fences and beds, and blowing off hard surfaces are part of every visit — never an upcharge.

The app does the work

Schedule, reschedule, pay, and rate — all from your phone. Reminders before service and after-photos when it’s done.

Every visit

What’s included in a lawnlo mow

Every mowing visit includes the full service — no à la carte upcharges.

What’s not included

lawnlo offers mowing only — no fertilization, chemical weed control, aeration, soil amendments, leaf removal, or sod installation.

Full lawn mow
Front, back, and side yards based on the areas you select.
Edging
Clean lines along driveways, sidewalks, and curbs.
String trimming
Around fences, mailboxes, trees, and beds.
Blowing
Clears clippings off your driveway, walkways, and patios.
Transparent pricing

How pricing works

We don’t publish flat rate cards because no two lawns are the same — a 4,000 sq ft lot prices very differently than a 10,000 sq ft lot.

Central Alabama lawn realities

Soil — red clay

Most of central Alabama sits on iron-oxide-rich red clay that holds nutrients but drains poorly and compacts underfoot. Cutting wet, clay-bound grass tears the blades — so your pro times visits around rain forecasts when possible.

Grass types
BermudagrassMost common
Handles heat, foot traffic, and direct sun. Needs frequent mowing during peak growth (May–September).
ZoysiagrassDense
Denser than Bermuda, slower-growing, and more shade-tolerant.
CentipedegrassLow-maintenance
A low-maintenance choice for shadier Birmingham yards.
Tall fescueCool-season
Occasionally in shaded north-facing lawns; struggles in central Alabama heat.
Growing season

Most of central Alabama falls in USDA Hardiness Zone 8a (parts hit 8b), with a 200+ day growing season.

Common questions

Lawn mowing FAQ

Quick answers for new customers. More on the full FAQ page →

How much does lawn mowing cost? +
lawnlo mowing starts at $25 for smaller yards. Pricing is satellite-measured against your exact lawn size, so a 4,000 sq ft yard prices differently than a 10,000 sq ft lot. Most yards fall between $30 and $65 per mow. Get an exact price for your address through the lawnlo app — no contracts.
How often should I mow my lawn in central Alabama? +
Central Alabama’s warm-season grasses grow fastest from late April through October. During peak growth, weekly mowing keeps Bermuda and Zoysia at their best — biweekly is enough November through March when growth slows. Most lawnlo customers book weekly Apr–Oct and pause or skip weeks during winter.
Do you mow on red clay soil? +
Yes. Most of central Alabama and parts of Tennessee sit on iron-oxide-rich red clay. lawnlo pros are familiar with clay soil challenges — like how it compacts under repeated mowing and tears when cut wet — and time visits around rain forecasts when possible.
What if it rains on my scheduled mowing day? +
We’ll reschedule. In some cases, your pro may reach out a day or two before your scheduled date if heavy rain is in the forecast and offer to mow earlier. Either way, you don’t pay for a service that didn’t happen.
Do I need to sign a contract? +
No contracts. Start, pause, or cancel anytime through the app. Going out of town for a month? Skip the weeks you don’t need — no penalty, no reactivation fee.
What’s included in a typical lawnlo mow? +
Every lawnlo mow includes the full lawn mow, edging along driveways and walkways, string trimming around fences and beds, and blowing clippings off hard surfaces. Edging, trimming, and blowing are part of every visit — never an extra charge. lawnlo offers mowing only — no fertilization, chemical weed control, aeration, or leaf removal.
